What I Don’t Want to Miss While Building
Building something takes a lot of attention.
It’s easy to stay in it. To keep working. To keep thinking about what’s next.
But the part I don’t want to miss is right in front of me.
My daughter.
Showing Up Differently
She’s growing fast. Faster than I expected.
And what’s been incredible is not just watching that—but feeling the support and love from her.
She knows what I’m doing. She sees how much I care about it.
And it actually feels like she respects it.
I love when she gets involved. I love when she’s curious.
But when I show up with her, I drop everything.
Phone away. Computer away.
I listen.
I ask her questions.
I want to know how she’s feeling, what she’s learning, what matters to her.
I want to support that—not just now, but long-term.
The Moments That Stay
Some moments don’t get planned.
They just happen.
And they’re the ones that stick.
The days where I’m having a hard time—and she notices.
She asks if I need a hug.
And I cry on her shoulder.
Just like I remember my mom crying on mine.
There’s something about that that doesn’t need to be explained.
She’s kind. She’s thoughtful. She’s a beautiful soul.
And I’m going to do everything I can to protect that.
What I Want More Of
This next year, I want more life in it.
More camping trips.
More time with friends.
More floats down the river.
More sun.
I need the sun. I feel better when I feel it.
Less stress. Less of the constant question—am I doing enough?
That tension is still there.
But so is this:
What matters most is already here.
Giddyup.
